The senses are a liminal phenomena, straddling the line between material & immaterial, tangible & intangible. What can be seen but not felt, heard yet not seen, subconsciously detected in scent or instinct but not yet consciously perceived – & existing in the present moment, only to become a mere trace of a memory. Like memories and the senses, clay is unendingly shifting in meaning, purpose, and intent – both physical & intangible. This concept explores the cohesion of the material & immaterial together, & how shapeshifting elements & the liminal spaces they form the world(s) around us.
